All Copywriting Projects

The projects shown here are speculative portfolio pieces created to demonstrate what this kind of narrative work can look like.

Nekomata Okayu

To me the original Hololive character presentations are flat and doesn’t say much about the talent.

This has been somewhat remedied in later generations, but I feel that they’re still often lacking.

Nekomata Okayu was the first VTuber whose original background story I decided to rewrite, mostly due to personal bias.

I believe that keeping her Japanese catchphrase “Mogi Mogi” (meaning nom nom), makes more sense than translating it.

I also wanted to infuse her lore with more personality. Most of the information in the expanded version exists in one form or another, be it quick mentions in streams or other pages with Okayu’s information. I simply compiled it and moved around the words until I found it warm and comforting to read.

Inugami Korone

Inugami Korone was the second VTuber whose background story I decided to expand upon.

Like with Okayu, I wanted to keep the original Japanese catchphrase instead of trying to awkwardly rephrase it into English. Korone won’t be saying it in English anyway, so it only confuses fans.

For Korone there was less to go on, so I decided to make up more than I had to for Okayu. Having watched Korone and seen how she acts, I tried to capture how she is and turn it into a story.

She talks a lot and easily gets excited, and she knows how to yell and scream. In the end I feel that I managed to create something that resonates with her.

Ikumi

Ikumi was almost a challenge to myself.

She has little to no lore or background, and all the information I could find was the original snippet, as well as her bios stating that she was a demon slayer and that she likes money.

So, as you can see, I decided to bake that into the story. Tragic backstory, what’s that? Ikumi simply loves money. What other reason do you need?

The nap part came from the fact that she does a lot of ASMR and I wanted to include that in some way as well.

In the end I believe I managed to create a lot of fitting lore out of very little. So much that I wrote a long version and then cut it down to the short version you see here.
